Established in April 1998, OAB's Investment Management Group (IMG) is licensed by Capital Market Authority and Central Bank of Oman to carry out Investment Banking activities in the Sultanate of Oman. It is also licensed by Muscat Securities Market to carry brokerage activities in Oman.

     IMG operates as a separate division of the bank and is audited separately. IMG also publishes its separate audited and un-audited periodic accounts.

  IMG is guided by the Central Investment Philosophy as laid down by the Global Investment Management Group of Arab Bank Group. 

  The Central Investment Philosophy has "Capital Preservation at its core and maximization of returns as a subsequent objective". The philosophy ensures that investment objectives and the associated levels of risk are always in balance.

Our Knowledge Base

• IMG Team is headed by DGM of Investment & Development who has a total investment and banking experience for more than 20 years with the last 10 years in Oman.
• The Head of Investment Management Group is supported by the Division Heads.
• Dedicated Financial Analyst is responsible for all research activities and prepares reports in both English and Arabic.
• Accounting and Back Office support is provided by the IMG Back office. We also receive support from the Finance & Accounts Department of the bank in this area.
• Execution of all deals on the Muscat Securities Market is carried out by Omani Brokers. The head of brokerage has a combined experience of over 18 years in the Muscat Securities Market.
• IMG has a total man-year experience of around 100 years in the field of banking and investments.

   IMG has accumulated a very extensive database on the corporate sector and the economy in Oman. This database includes financials of the company, information bulletins from Central Bank of Oman, Capital Market Authority, Muscat Securities Market, Ministry of National Economy, etc.

   IMG Research has covered and prepared research reports on all the major sectors of Oman and also prepares company reports on a regular ongoing basis. IMG also prepares periodic reports on the Economy. Apart from this, IMG publishes Daily MSM Report and Weekly Newsletter covering the Muscat Securities Market. All reports are published both in English and Arabic. 

   IMG is in constant and regular touch with the management of the listed companies to keep track of the activities and events which helps in taking a view on the company and valuing the company on an objective basis.

Investment Monitoring

   All investment related activities are monitored on a regular basis by the Investment Committee of the Bank

   The Investment Committee is headed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank and comprises of all the Deputy General Managers and the Financial Controller of the Bank.

   The Investment Committee, without going into the day-to-day operations or working of IMG, monitors the performance of IMG and guides IMG in laying down the basic Investment Philosophy and Investment Strategy.
